September 2006
The CCMS PTO would like to welcome all of our new and returning students as
well as their parents to the 2006-2007 school year. We are anticipating a fun
and productive year at the middle school. We are planning additional motivational/educational
assemblies this year, recreation nights for our children to enjoy a supervised
night out, another Little Theatre musical production, teacher grants to enrich
the classrooms and the school, field day lunches/picnics, the 8th grade moving
up reception and more...
The lifeblood of our organization comes from you, the parents and guardians
of our students. Your support begins by joining the PTO with your $10 family
membership that is now tax-deductible (for Federal and New York State income
taxes) as a charitable contribution since we have applied for Internal Revenue
Service recognition of our 501(c)(3) status, which will be retroactive to this
past summer. Join us for our monthly meetings and be a voice in our organization.
Join a committee, bake for an event, help chaperone a class level recreation
night, run for an office and vote for your PTO Directors and officers. Please
know that whatever contribution you feel comfortable making to the PTO, your
participation is always appreciated by students, faculty, administrators and
us.
As you know, income for our events comes from fundraising. This fall we will
be selling magazines through QSP beginning on September 15th. Later we will
be offering you a unique opportunity to purchase CCMS PTO customized coffee
just in time for holiday gift giving. We will also be offering School Spirit
items throughout the school year including sweatshirts, t-shirts and sport sack/backpacks.
In addition, please continue sending in the box tops for the Box tops for Education
program. A container will be placed at the top of the main stairwell. Thanks
to all of your support, our fundraising efforts have enabled us to purchase
a beautiful new entrance rug with the school name & logo, Smart Board for
the science classes, a color printer and drying rack for the art department,
educational tools for the math department, technology for the special education
department, sewing machines, mixers and food processors for Home & Careers,
string bass and marching bass drum for the music department, classroom wall
maps, LCD projector and books for the library, a portable sound system for the
auditorium along with providing the funding for worthwhile assemblies and more.
Check out our web site at www.ccmspto.org as well as your child’s backpack for updates and additional information. Please join us for our first PTO meeting on Thurs, September 14th at 9:00am at the middle school. Come and see what we are about and where you fit in. Catch up with some old friends and meet some new friends too.
